The company Matrimar, located near the operators of MC (Citizen Movement), Baltazar Martínez Montemayor and Baltazar Martínez Ríos, reported a case of alleged extortion by elements of the state government, as they attempted to apply another closure hours after its reopening. It should be recalled that months ago, the executive branch had closed this company for the alleged illegal extraction of aquifers in the Sierra de los Picachos. "In an atypical visit, authorities from the government of Nuevo León arrived around 1:00 AM with the order to shut down our facilities... this occurred after a call, requested by a close associate of the governor, rejected another attempt at extortion," the company shared. Similarly, the insistence from the Palace of Cantera on its closure is also due to political differences in the operation of Baltazar Martínez Ríos, who is the state leader of MC. In addition to being linked to operators on the northern periphery of Nuevo León for MC, the quarry is also operated by the Santos family, who are very close to the PAN and a link that has caused distrust among the leaders of the state's official party for several months. For some time now, "the Baltas", as they are known on the periphery, have been sounding out various entrepreneurs to form part of pressure to reactivate operations. "Matrimar will not yield to institutional attempts to demand multi-million cash payments outside the law... while the authority tries to criminalize its work without foundation, Matrimar works to preserve its jobs as much as possible," added in a statement. LPO anticipated that Baltazar Martínez Montemayor is upset by the closure of a company that has become a key electoral factor in Cerralvo. Without a favorable response from the PAN and the Judicial Branch, the company has managed to resume temporary operations. However, the Executive insists that the quarry is a highly polluting industry and contributes to the water crisis in the neighboring Sierra. They reported that thanks to litigation and resolutions from the local Judicial Branch, they managed to reactivate their operation, however, it was a matter of hours before the risk of closure returned.
