Citizens Rise Against Public Transport Fare Increase

The political actors of the PRI and PAN have intensified their campaign against the government of Samuel García due to the recent increase in fares on certain public transportation routes in Monterrey. This increase, from 13 to 15 pesos, has generated discontent among citizens, who feel economically affected.

The leaders of both parties, Francisco Cienfuegos and Policarpo Flores, along with federal deputies, demonstrated at a transportation station to gather signatures and file complaints for alleged corruption. According to them, the government did not follow the established procedures before implementing the fare increase.

Francisco Cienfuegos of the PRI pointed out that the increase was arbitrary and violated the state's sustainable mobility law, which states that any change in fares must be evaluated and approved by the Technical Committee Council. On the other hand, the state president of the PAN, Policarpo Flores, also filed a complaint demanding that the case be investigated and any additional increases be ruled out, asserting that the government did not follow the proper channels for the decision.

For its part, the State defended the fare increase, indicating that it was only applied to certain units and that discounts would be offered to those passengers making transfers on their route. However, the political opposition remains firm in its rejection and pursuit of measures to prevent this decision from negatively affecting the population.
