The mayor of Monterrey, Adrián de la Garza, announced that from now on all crimes occurring in the city will be recorded to become part of the statistics and thus be able to address them more effectively. The Municipal Public Security Secretary was instructed to register all types of incidents, not just thefts, in order to combat crime in a comprehensive manner.
"We will not allow it! These are the instructions we have to create the conditions of peace and tranquility that Monterrey seeks," said De la Garza. On October 21, in the Industrial neighborhood north of Monterrey, dismembered human remains were found, creating a disturbing atmosphere in the area. The bodies were discovered in different locations such as Alfonso Reyes Avenue and behind the Monumental Lorenzo Garza bullring, causing congestion due to the police presence.
The mayor mentioned that apart from combating theft, specialized areas will be implemented to tackle organized crime and locate drug dealing hotspots that are often sources of violence in neighborhoods or colonies of Monterrey. Special attention will be given to conflict areas such as the Industrial neighborhood and El Pozo where a high degree of violence is recorded.
"Even if we receive messages or banners, we will continue to work against those who generate violence in the city," emphasized De la Garza, highlighting the determination of local authorities to combat insecurity in Monterrey.
