In Puebla, cases have been reported of gas stations selling adulterated fuel, causing problems in consumers' vehicles. Some of these cases have been recorded at stations in the capital, such as La Nacional and Avenida Margaritas.
One affected person commented: "Another gas station that dispenses pure water there at La Nacional and Margaritas. They are damaging, I filled up 30 liters of gasoline at night and the next day my truck started to malfunction a lot." After taking their vehicle to the mechanic, it was discovered that the liquid in the tank was water.
On the other hand, León Martín, a representative of gas station owners, noted that thefts of transporters carrying fuel have decreased in the last year. However, he warned about the sale of "diluted" gasoline and "fiscal huachicol," low-quality products that can affect both vehicle engines and the environment.
In light of this situation, Martín called on consumers not to be swayed solely by price when choosing where to refuel. He recommended buying at recognized stations and avoiding improvised places, such as clandestine storage yards.
The "fiscal huachicol" mentioned by Martín does not come from fuel theft, but enters the country without paying the corresponding taxes and becomes gasoline illegally. These irregularities have been reported to the competent authorities, such as the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco).
Regarding the cases reported on social media of gasoline adulterated with water, citizens have been advised to stay alert and file complaints in case of suspected irregularities at gas stations. Despite some ongoing thefts of transporters, Martín assured that these have not had a significant impact on the fuel industry in the region.
