6.5% Growth in Sales for Valentine's Day

The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco) of Puebla expects a 6.5% increase in sales due to the upcoming February 14, Day of Love and Friendship, which would mean an economic spillover of 915 million pesos. This figure surpasses the 860 million pesos from 2024 and the 775 million recorded in 2023, according to statements from the president of Canaco, Juan Pablo Cisneros Madrid.

Cisneros emphasized that out of the 21,632 economic units affiliated with the chamber, the sectors with the highest demand this season will be clothing and gift stores, department stores, hotels, motels, restaurants, flower shops, cafes, soda fountains, ice cream shops, cantinas, and bars.

Additionally, he expressed his concern about informal commerce and announced the conduct of a study by sectors and commercial zones to evaluate its impact in areas like the Historic Center. The president of Canaco requested municipal authorities to prevent the installation of street vendors during the season to ensure that the expected growth is reflected in actual sales and is not harmed by irregular practices.

"We will be attentive to the results to assess how the presence of informal commerce influences, as occurred in December. Our commitment is to ensure that this growth trend is reflected in actual sales and is not affected by irregular practices," concluded Cisneros.
