Puebla Public Bicycle System Project

Puebla launches a public bicycle system with affordable rates, developed by local talent. The project aims to create sustainable and accessible urban mobility for all population sectors.

Puebla Public Bicycle System Project

The Puebla State Public Bicycle System project is advancing strongly and is positioned as one of the government's main bets on sustainable mobility, offering more affordable rates than similar systems such as Ecobici in Mexico City. Developed by the public company Yankuilotl, created in 2025, the system includes daily passes for 49 pesos and weekly passes for 69 pesos, costs significantly lower than the 128 and 425 pesos, respectively, of the capital model. Additionally, monthly plans will be offered from 99 pesos—with discounts for students and family options—as well as annual schemes ranging from 399 to 1,199 pesos, which seeks to expand access to the service for different sectors of the population. A Technological Project Made in Puebla The system has been designed entirely by local talent and integrates bicycles, stations, a web platform, and a mobile application, making it a comprehensive model of eco-friendly transportation. During a tour of the facilities at the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business (CIEN), Governor Alejandro Armenta highlighted the role of young people participating in the project's development. "They are achieving transcendence," he affirmed, emphasizing that the company represents a model of innovation aligned with the federal policy of technological sovereignty. In turn, the company's director, Lagtzu López Miro Castorena, pointed out that the project has become a talent incubator, where young developers have evolved from interns to key team members. A Bet on Sustainable and Accessible Mobility The public bicycle system aims not only to promote the use of eco-friendly transportation but also to offer an accessible alternative for Puebla families, thanks to proprietary technology development that reduces costs. According to authorities, this project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen innovation in the state and improve urban mobility with sustainable solutions.
