The mayor of Puebla, Pepe Chedraui Budib, reported that they will reveal in the coming days the details of the inherited debts, such as names, categories, and amounts, to demonstrate their veracity and that they are not fabricated, but recognized by the previous administration. He assured that these debts will not affect the payments or bonuses of the city workers nor public services.
Chedraui Budib dismissed the possibility of starting prosecutions against former mayor Adán Domínguez Sánchez for the financial deficit he left of nearly 600 million pesos. He stated that his government will prioritize resources to guarantee the city’s services and will not request additional credits to cover the financial gap.
The mayor emphasized that the quality or operation of municipal services will not be compromised to settle the inherited debts. Although he admitted to a debt of around 600 million pesos, mainly with suppliers, he pointed out that they have sufficient resources to cover payroll and bonuses.
Among the debts, significant amounts are pending with Telmex, the lighting contract, and more than 50 million pesos with various companies. Chedraui Budib stated: "The debt is there," making it clear that his administration will not sacrifice the provision of services to cover these financial obligations.
