Inauguration of Casas Carmen Serdán in Puebla

The governor of Puebla announced the opening of the Casas Carmen Serdán, spaces designed to provide shelter and comprehensive support to women victims of violence. It is expected that 15 houses will be inaugurated soon, providing crucial services for rebuilding lives and eradicating femicide.

The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, announced the creation of the Carmen Serdán Houses, spaces designed to protect women and eradicate feminicide violence in the state. These houses will provide safe refuge and access to comprehensive services for vulnerable women who need to rebuild their lives.

In a press conference, Carmen González Serdán, great-granddaughter of Aquiles Serdán Alatriste, highlighted that the Carmen Serdán Houses will offer support to women, young people, the elderly, and individuals suffering from violence in the 27 microregions of Puebla. The Serdán family will coordinate and oversee the functioning of these houses, in homage to the legacy of Carmen Serdán, a Mexican heroine who fought for justice and equality in the country.

The Carmen Serdán Houses will have a wide range of services, including psychological and medical care, dining area, temporary shelter, social work, forensic medical services, security areas, and specialized personnel in different fields. Additionally, comprehensive care will be provided to victims of violence, with open areas for Specialized Public Ministries and a playroom for the children of the victims.

Alejandro Armenta Mier emphasized that the first 15 Carmen Serdán Houses will be inaugurated in the first 100 days of his administration. During the announcement, the governor publicly recognized the Serdán family, thanking them for their contribution to the history of Puebla and Mexico, highlighting the legacy of courage and justice of Carmen Serdán.
