Experts from the General Prosecutor's Office of the State of Puebla approached the scene to collect the body and begin investigations with the aim of identifying the responsible party for the crime. The family of the girl Génesis Mei Ling demands that the person who committed the crime be severely punished. However, through a statement, Karina Velázquez Varela, representing the family, expressed that they wish to go through this painful process in peace and with their loved ones.
The family requested the authorities to punish those who are improperly using the image of Génesis and reiterated their commitment to exhaust all available resources to ensure justice is served. In Velázquez Varela's words, "nothing will bring back their little daughter." For his part, Samuel Aguilar Pala, head of the Secretariat of Governance, pointed out that there are individuals he termed "pseudo-activists" and political actors seeking to take advantage of the feminicide of Génesis.
Aguilar Pala called on the citizenry not to polarize the issue, to refrain from calling for protests related to the feminicide of Génesis, and to respect the family during these difficult times. The presumed murderer of Génesis Mei Ling, a 10-year-old girl, turned himself in at the San Pedro Cholula police station in Puebla. Luis Ángel P. confessed to being responsible for the homicide of the child, who was found dead on January 15 in a property in Cuautlancingo.
Authorities from the General Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Luis Ángel P. presented himself early this Monday to provide details about how the murder of the girl occurred. However, due to a request from the minor's family, it was reported that no further information about the investigations would be disclosed at this time.
Génesis Mei Ling Rodríguez, 10 years old, was reported missing on January 12, prompting the Puebla Prosecutor's Office to initiate the corresponding investigation. After three days of searching, the girl's body was found on January 15, showing signs of physical violence and sexual assault. The body was discovered in the same building where she lived but in another apartment, leading to the identification of Luis Ángel P. as the presumed responsible for the murder.
Subsequently, authorities conducted searches in one of the properties, where the girl's body was found as part of the ongoing investigations.
