
The mayor of Puebla, José “Pepe” Chedraui Budib, announced during the presentation of the first 100 days of his government that one of his main commitments for 2025 will be the complete coverage of potholes in the city, as well as a salary increase for municipal police.
Chedraui Budib emphasized that streets that have been abandoned for 20 years have been addressed, and his focus has been on the auxiliary boards to meet the needs that had been forgotten. Regarding infrastructure, an area of 21,900 square meters has been paved and 81,035 square meters of roads have been rehabilitated, which is equivalent to 15 times the field of the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.
Additionally, the laying of the first stone of the new San Ramón market was mentioned, a joint project with the state government, which will occupy more than 15,000 square meters. Improvements in urban infrastructure were also highlighted, such as the modernization of traffic light intersections, maintenance of streetlights, tree trimming, maintenance of public parks, and cleaning of city fountains.
In terms of security, a decrease in the incidence of various crimes was reported according to data from the Attorney General's Office. For example, vehicle theft decreased by 11%, theft from businesses by 32%, home theft by 23%, theft on public transport by 29%, and theft from pedestrians by 18%. Additionally, a gradual salary increase for municipal police was announced, aiming for a 40% increase by the end of the term in 2027.
A security strategy has been implemented in collaboration with various institutions such as the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, the Navy, the State Public Security Secretariat, and the State Attorney General's Office. The commitment of the municipal government is to work with zero tolerance for impunity or political persecution to deliver results to the citizens.
During the presentation of the progress, the Secretary of Public Security, Francisco Sánchez González, the general director of SEDIF, Raymundo Atanacio Luna, the state coordinator of Morena, Olga Lucía Romero Garci-Crespo, the president of the State Congress, Laura Artemisa García Chávez, and local and federal deputies were present. José Chedraui Budib stated that these actions will continue throughout the year for the benefit of the Puebla population.
