The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, reported that his government will not carry out a vehicle re-registration program for private vehicles in the state. Re-registration will be reserved only for public transport as part of the Comprehensive Mobility Program, with the aim of modernizing units and raising safety standards in the service.
In an interview, the governor mentioned that a vehicle inspection will take place in April to identify the operators working in the entity and verify their compliance with the current regulations. This process will allow for the identification and subsequent withdrawal from circulation of informal transport operators and those who may have links to illegal activities.
Armenta Mier emphasized that the measure does not seek to generate additional income for the government, but the support and discounts offered to transport operators will result in a loss of approximately 184 million pesos in taxes and vehicle procedures for the state. "The main objective is to improve the safety and efficiency of public transport in Puebla," said the governor.
It is worth mentioning that in previous administrations, re-registration occurred with each change of government. The last time this measure was implemented was in 2020, during the administration of Miguel Barbosa Huerta.
