Puebla Mayor Denounces Illegal Surveillance Cameras

The mayor of Puebla, Pepe Chedraui Budib, revealed that illegal surveillance cameras were discovered in the Historic Center of the city that were installed about six years ago. These devices are not part of the municipal or state security systems. After discussions with local merchants, it was determined that the cameras did not belong to them.

During an interview, Chedraui Budib explained that, in coordination with the vendors, the cameras whose installation was not recognized by the merchants were removed. Although the cameras were not fully identified, it is estimated that they were operational for at least six years in the area.

A call was made to the community, especially to merchants in the Historic Center and other areas of the city, to report any unidentified camera or suspicious device that was not installed by the competent authorities. The mayor emphasized that working groups on security are being carried out in collaboration with federal and state governments. These reviews will extend throughout the city with the aim of ensuring the safety of residents and preventing the installation of illegal devices.

The situation has generated concern among citizens and merchants, who seek greater transparency regarding security measures in the city. Meanwhile, authorities continue to investigate the origin of the discovered cameras.
