Puebla Sets Deadline for RUTA Line 4 Completion

The government of Puebla has set March 15 as the deadline for the completion of the works on Line 4 of the RUTA system, which runs along the Ecological Periphery. Sanctions have been announced for the responsible company due to delays in the completion of the project. José Manuel Contreras de los Santos, head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, mentioned that the delays stem from issues with the installation of elevators at some stops, leading to multiple postponements in the delivery date.

"By March 15, everything will be ready... there will be penalties, proposals must be made and whatever applies. They are aware that we have given two or three dates, this is the right one," Contreras explained. Recently, the state government imposed fines of almost 22 million pesos on companies responsible for works initiated during the administration of former governor Sergio Céspedes Peregrina, which are still not completed due to various observations.

At the same time, a thorough analysis of the stops is being carried out to ensure their functionality for pedestrians and to prevent accidents when crossing between different traffic directions. While work on Line 4 of RUTA continues, the service remains free until the total completion of the works.

In the context of other ongoing infrastructure projects, it was reported that the construction of the new headquarters of the Secretariat of Planning, Finance, and Administration is 70% complete, with completion expected by May and staff relocation planned for the remainder of the year.

On the other hand, the project to build an ecopark in La Malinche is in the environmental impact assessment phase by federal authorities. Once the relevant permits are obtained, it is intended to launch the bidding process to select the company responsible for the development of the project, aimed at preventing illegal logging and vandalism in the area.

Additionally, the implementation of elements of the Forest Police for monitoring and protection of the area is being considered, following the approval and socialization of the project with the surrounding communities.
