The government of Puebla has modified the 'Paseo de los Campeones' project on Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, confirming the reduction of vehicle turnarounds from six to three following complaints from local residents. Cabinet Coordinator José Luis García Parra explained that the adjustments were made after dialogue tables with residents of nearby neighborhoods, who expressed concerns about the impact of the original design on traffic flow. With this change, left turns onto the roadway will also be eliminated to improve circulation through continuous-flow turnarounds and a computerized traffic light system at five key intersections. The intervention is part of the Parque Paseo de Campeones y Campeonas project, a 110.3 million peso investment aimed at transforming Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza into an urban corridor that honors sports figures. In addition to the road reconfiguration, the project includes improvements to adjacent streets, infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, and the installation of streetlights on the walkway, especially in areas near stadiums where visibility is currently low. The changes will affect the mobility of neighborhoods such as San Pedro, Maravillas, Malintzi, Tepeyac, Los Pinos, and Adolfo López Mateos. According to state authorities, the project is federally funded, has been in the bidding process since last December, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March. In parallel, the state government is investigating the recent felling of trees in this area. García Parra clarified that the person captured performing these acts does not belong to any government agency, and follow-up will be conducted to determine responsibilities.
