The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Fight Against Corruption in the state of Puebla reported significant advances in the fight against corruption during the period 2023-2024. During this time, they achieved the indictment of 77 people for corruption-related crimes. According to the report from the State Anti-Corruption System, 7 arrests were made in flagrant offenses and 686 investigation files were opened for alleged corruption crimes.
Regarding convictions, the restitution of damages amounts to 20 million 336 thousand 931 pesos, showing significant progress in the recovery of embezzled resources. Additionally, through mechanisms for resolving criminal disputes, nearly two million pesos were recovered.
In another case, Roberto N., 66 years old, will remain in justified preventive custody for his probable responsibility in the crime of aggravated sexual harassment. He was arrested for allegedly filming under the skirt of Puebla lawyer Paloma Corte at the facilities of the State Judiciary on November 11. The complaint was filed by the affected lawyer.
The prosecutor's office specialized in Gender Violence Crimes confirmed the capture of the aggressor on the same day of the events. Of the seven arrests made, six were men and one was a woman. In total, 17 judicial orders were executed, which included orders of arrest, re-arrest, and summons.
Following Paloma Corte's complaint, the State Attorney General's Office took legal action against the accused for aggravated sexual harassment. The aggressor's defense requested an extension of the constitutional term, postponing the resolution of his legal situation. During this period, he will remain in preventive custody.
For protection measures, the Prosecutor's Office issued a protection order in favor of the complainant, which includes immediate assistance and security patrols by the Public Security Secretariat at her residence, guaranteeing her integrity and safety.
