Querétaro Airport Sees Record Growth in 2024

The Querétaro International Airport has reported a significant increase in tourist arrivals, with 1.02 million passengers in 2024, a 17.2% rise from the previous year. This makes it the fastest-growing airport in Mexico.

Cancun Airport topped the list of arrivals with 15.1 million passengers, followed by Guadalajara with 8.8 million, Monterrey with 6.7 million, Tijuana with 6.5 million, and Los Cabos with 3.7 million. Regarding foreign tourists, Queretaro reported 186,552 passengers in 2024, an increase of 52.2% compared to the previous year.

Breaking down the increase, it was the second highest nationally after Mexico City's International Airport and above other locations such as Manzanillo, Huatulco, Oaxaca, and Chihuahua. Queretaro contributed 0.9% of foreign tourists nationally, remaining in the tenth position, the same as in 2023, above airports such as Toluca, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Mazatlan.

In 2024, AIQ ranked twelfth nationally in air arrivals, improving its position compared to 2023. The airport's growth surpassed that of others like Mazatlan, La Paz, Oaxaca, and Villahermosa. It is important to note that Queretaro Airport was the one that grew the most in the last two years.

In the national arrivals list, Cancun accounted for 43.8% of foreign tourism, followed by Mexico City, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, and Guadalajara. Currently, AIQ operates 11 domestic flights and 6 international flights to the United States, according to official data from various government secretariats.

During 2024, Queretaro International Airport received more than one million passengers, representing a 17.2% increase compared to the previous year, the highest among airports not managed by the National Defense or the Navy. Between 2022 and 2024, the influx of tourists at AIQ increased by 79.3%, reaching one million 22 thousand 417 passengers.

In the coming months, two international flights to Dallas and Monterrey will be added in April and one more to Tijuana in May.
