New housing program in Querétaro

The state government of Querétaro fulfilled its commitment to donate a 90-hectare plot of land in the San Pedrito Peñuelas area, in the state capital, for the federal government's program to build affordable housing, through Infonavit and Conavi. This donation was agreed upon during the visit of Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, to the entity and will be part of the 15,000 planned affordable housing units for Querétaro.

The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, highlighted the importance of this support for the construction of affordable homes, especially for young people and low-income individuals, as well as for those relocating to the region in search of a better quality of life. Kuri pointed out that the demand for housing in Querétaro continues to rise, driven by incoming investments and economic development in the entity, including the future Mexico-Querétaro train.

In Governor Kuri's words: 'We are fulfilling a commitment we made to assist in the president's commitment.' Kuri acknowledged the significant challenge the state faces regarding housing due to rising costs and stressed the importance of this housing program and the federation's regularization efforts in the current context. The federal program, which includes an investment of 600 billion pesos for the construction of a million homes nationwide, aims to offer affordable prices for young people and vulnerable populations.

The donation of land in Querétaro aims to contribute to the construction of dignified housing for those who do not have access to their own homes. Kuri mentioned that the state has been consistently receiving 126 people daily over the past 15 years, which creates pressure on the housing supply. The strategic location of the homes to be built aims to provide opportunities for those seeking to improve their quality of life in the region, coming from different realities.
