New agreement in Querétaro to combat fraud

The Attorney General of the State and the municipality of Querétaro have signed an agreement to strengthen the fight against fraud and telephone extortion through the mobile application Cuelgapp. The Attorney General, Víctor Antonio De Jesús, and the capital's mayor, Felipe Fernando Macías, have agreed that the Attorney's Office will provide data to be integrated into the Cuelgapp platform, which will allow for the identification and blocking of calls related to criminal activities. This action will also help improve the organization of information to expedite investigations into such crimes.

According to De Jesús, the information collected through Cuelgapp will be used to analyze criminal patterns and prevent new cases. Since the application was launched, 18 people involved in criminal activities in the city and the municipality of Corregidora have been arrested. The Attorney highlighted the importance of ongoing communication and coordination in security matters, emphasizing that these actions go beyond just a simple protocol act.

For his part, the mayor of Querétaro praised Cuelgapp as an innovative tool that exemplifies the good use of technology in security matters. He underscored the importance of the agreement to strengthen collaboration between the municipality and the Attorney's Office, as well as with other entities at the local, state, and federal levels. This agreement reinforces the city’s security strategy, protecting citizens from potential fraud and extortion.

The Municipal Public Security Secretariat reported that Cuelgapp has been downloaded more than 46,000 times since its launch in August 2022. The application has blocked nearly 1,500 calls from reported numbers, demonstrating its effectiveness in preventing criminal activities through telephone means.
