The Government of Querétaro, in order to maintain public safety and guarantee normalcy in the entity, has implemented preventive measures following a recent episode of violence at a local bar. Carlos Alcaraz, Secretary of Government of the State, emphasized the importance of relying on the region's own conditions and strengthening preventive actions rather than being influenced by violent contexts from other entities.
In this regard, monitoring operations have been intensified, leading to the closure of ten establishments for irregularities in their alcohol sales licenses, as part of a joint strategy between the State Attorney General's Office and the Government Directorate. However, activities like El Buen Fin and the International Livestock Fair of Querétaro remain underway, reinforcing safety measures.
After the shooting at Los Cantaritos bar, thirteen people were injured, of which five have been discharged, five are stable and recovering, and three did not need additional medical attention. Despite the magnitude of the incident, two persons who were initially in serious condition have shown improvement and are out of danger, although they remain hospitalized.
The state administration, together with the municipalities and the Federal Government, is working on stricter security strategies that include standardizing closing times, full evacuations, and continuous inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards in nightlife establishments. These measures aim not only to prevent new episodes of violence in public spaces but also to revitalize the local economy, which has been affected by a 15% decrease in sales in restaurants associated with CANIRAC.
