The state government of Querétaro has implemented two economic support programs aimed at vulnerable sectors of the population. To be a beneficiary of one of the programs, a person must have worked formally in the entity or be from Querétaro, and have lost their job up to 12 months before applying.
According to the program published in the official newspaper La Sombra de Arteaga, it is considered necessary to incorporate repatriated individuals originally from Querétaro into the state social programs. On the other hand, the Secretariat of Women has launched a support program for working mothers, offering one thousand pesos a month to those who need childcare services to carry out their work or educational activities.
Support for working mothers will be limited to 2,000 beneficiaries and will be valid throughout the year 2025. Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Labor has modified the State Employment Program to include repatriated Querétanos from the United States after January 20, at the start of Donald Trump's administration. This support will consist of providing 3,500 pesos, valid until January 31.
Regarding the support program for working mothers, they will receive social assistance vouchers redeemable at the Childcare Center for payment of childcare services. This support is aimed at the care of minors from 47 days to 5 years and 11 months of age.
According to data from the National Occupation and Employment Survey up to the third quarter of 2024, more than 416,000 women from Querétaro, representing 52% of the female population in the entity, are not economically active. Additionally, according to figures from 2020, the average education level of women in Querétaro is slightly lower than that of men, highlighting an existing gap due to gender roles and stereotypes present in society. This places women in a condition of vulnerability due to historical, cultural, social, political, and economic factors.
