The director of the Mobility Agency of the State of Querétaro (Ameq), Gerardo Cuanalo, has announced that three public transport stations for the suburban service are being built near Paseo 5 de Febrero. These stops, located on Avenida Las Torres near the road to Tlacote, at the height of 18 de Marzo and at the height of the Obrera neighborhood, will be delivered to the agency once completed.
Cuanalo explained that the stations will have lighting, roofing, and benches, although there will be no Qrobús ATMs, as the integration of suburban routes into the state transport system is not currently contemplated. The new stations are part of a broader plan to improve mobility in the Metropolitan Area of Querétaro.
The director also mentioned that work is being done to integrate the suburban service with the urban, which will require a redesign of routes with new connection points in other municipalities. He highlighted that there is an advanced project to create routes to Querétaro International Airport, which will have an intermediate station of the Mexico-Querétaro train.
Regarding future improvements, there are plans to increase the number of night routes, adding to the two existing trunk routes: T-01 and T-12. Additionally, the possibility of introducing a disposable Qrobús card by the end of 2024 is being considered. This new payment method, which is more economical, would allow for a limited number of trips and would be purchased at convenience stores for practical use and easy disposal.
In short, the Mobility Agency of the State of Querétaro has ambitious plans to improve public transport in the region, seeking to integrate services, expand routes, and facilitate access to efficient and convenient mobility options for citizens.
