Increase of the Electoral Budget of Querétaro for 2025

In 2021, a total of 98,890,790 pesos were allocated to political parties, along with 279,781,246 pesos intended for the electoral process of that same year. The total budget of the Institute amounted to 445,046,794 pesos. During the session, the loss of registration of the Querétaro Seguro party was announced, which means it will not receive funding in 2025. The remaining prerogatives for 2024 will be delivered to the party before the end of the year.

In the session of the general council, the Electoral Institute of the State of Querétaro presented its budget project for 2025 totaling 250,826,259.61 pesos, which represents an increase of 19.93% compared to the previous year. This increase would raise the funds from 209,141,162 pesos in 2024 to the aforementioned figure.

Of the proposed budget, 55% will be allocated to financing political parties, specifically 139,128,384 pesos. The remaining 45%, equivalent to 111,697,875.61 pesos, will be allocated to the ordinary expenses of the Institute.

Regarding allocations to political parties, it is expected that PAN will receive 45,154,291.70 pesos, Morena 42,349,108.74 pesos, PRI 14,339,914.04 pesos, PVEM 13,690,945.07 pesos, Movimiento Ciudadano 13,208,648.25 pesos, and the Labor Party 10,385,475.84 pesos.

Carlos Daniel Luna Rosas, representative of Morena, urged to reflect on austerity and areas of opportunity in the proposed budget. It was highlighted that, despite a significant increase, since it is not an electoral year in 2025, the justification for this increase is questionable as the state will not be in an electoral process.

In previous years, it is detailed that in 2023 the budget was 181,108,151 pesos, while in 2022 it amounted to 164,643,777 pesos. The expenditure on prerogatives in 2023 was 115,829,555 pesos. A collaboration was anticipated in the election of the changes required by the judicial reform in 2025, although it is a process under the responsibility of the National Electoral Institute.
