Peaceful March Against Violence in Querétaro

Civil society organizations have called on citizens to participate in a silent peaceful march in response to the violent events that occurred last week in the locality. The aim is to show unity and harmony in the face of the violence that has affected the community.

Waltter López, an activist, emphasized the importance of responding to violence with solidarity and urged citizens to join the demonstration. Participants have been asked to wear white clothing and to avoid wearing political or organizational insignias.

The former rector of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ), Teresa García Gasca, highlighted that while the march is a result of the recent tragic events, it also reflects a feeling of helplessness in the face of the growing violence in the country. The tragic incidents, where 13 people lost their lives in two armed attacks at a bar and a restaurant, have shocked the community.

The march, scheduled for Saturday, November 16 at 4 PM, will start from the Alameda Hidalgo towards the bar Los Cantaritos, the site of one of the attacks. During the demonstration, a citizen proclamation will be made calling on authorities to fulfill their duty to ensure the safety of the population.

More than twenty civil organizations will join the march with the goal of expressing rejection of fear, supporting the rule of law, and defending citizens' freedoms. This initiative aims to draw attention to the need for profound change in society to confront violence and build a safer and more peaceful environment for all.
