At the Bicentennial Park of Querétaro, during an American football game between the Patos Salvajes of Cuautitlán Izcalli and the Lions Academy of Querétaro, an incident occurred in which a swarm of bees attacked about 50 people, including players and spectators.
According to Civil Protection, nine people arrived at the hospital on their own without serious injuries, while another 40 were treated on-site to rule out serious allergic reactions. Authorities coordinated medical care for the 50 injured and ensured the area was secured along with firefighters.
The Animal Welfare Secretariat removed the beehive located near the sports fields to preserve the insects. They explained that Bicentennial Park has an extensive ecological reserve that requires careful management of the local flora and fauna.
Witnesses reported that the bees appeared suddenly on the field and attacked everyone present. Players, referees, and spectators tried to shield themselves from the stings as the bees buzzed around. After a few minutes, the insects dispersed and left the area.
A report was made to 911 that mobilized paramedics, Civil Protection, and firefighters. One person was taken to the General Hospital due to serious injuries. Thanks to the quick intervention of emergency teams, the situation was brought under control and further damage was prevented in the park.
