
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Nayarit confirmed that three members of a family from Culiacán, Sinaloa, reported missing, were found dead in a clandestine grave in the municipality of Rosamorada, Nayarit. The victims were identified as Laura Elena, her husband Roel, and her nephew Manuel.
According to the institution, the three individuals were traveling from Culiacán, Sinaloa, to the capital of Nayarit on January 8. The last time they were heard from was when they were at the border with Nayarit and requested money from their relatives to repair their vehicle. After this, all contact was lost.
Following the report of their disappearance, search operations were deployed in both entities, which led to the detention of four individuals allegedly related to the case, as well as the seizure of two stolen vehicles, including the car in which the victims were traveling.
During the operation, a clandestine grave was discovered in Rosamorada, where the bodies of the three missing individuals were found. The Attorney General's Office reported that, after forensic genetic testing, the identity of the deceased was confirmed, and it was revealed that they had been deprived of their lives. Additionally, spent shell casings were found at the site.
Investigations remain open, as it is suspected that this case could be related to other crimes in the region. In the coming days, more details about what occurred are expected to be shared.
Amidst this tragedy, one of the couple's daughters, Maritza, confirmed on social media the discovery of her relatives' bodies and thanked all the people who collaborated in the search. She expressed her sorrow and gratitude for the support received and requested prayers for her parents' rest.
Since last year, criminal acts have been recorded in the northern zone of Nayarit, near the borders with other states, linked to activities of criminal groups. Despite security operations and seizures of weapons and drugs, there has been no report on the situation regarding homicides, disappearances, and other crimes in the region.
