The President of Mexico has instructed the construction of new high schools and the expansion of existing ones in Baja California to ensure that all young people have access to education. This effort is framed within the will to expand educational opportunities in the country.
The Mexican government guaranteed scholarships for 21.4 million basic education students during 2025 through the new universal scholarship 'Rita Cetina GutiƩrrez'. This program is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum's commitments upon taking office, with the goal of supporting preschool, primary, and secondary students.
The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, announced the scholarship program in Baja California and highlighted that over 17,000 informational assemblies have been held in public secondary schools nationwide, with the participation of 2.3 million parents and guardians. A total of 5.6 million scholarships will be awarded to students in public schools at this educational level.
In the state of Baja California, 162,149 secondary students will receive the scholarship. Registration to access this support will be open online from November 11 to December 18, and financial aid will begin to be distributed starting January 2025.
In addition to the scholarship for basic education, an important educational infrastructure project at the higher education level was announced with the opening of a new campus of the National University 'Rosario Castellanos' in Tijuana, Baja California.
