Municipal Workshops for Well-being in Toluca

The Health Department of the State of Mexico organizes workshops to train municipal authorities on regulations and health, aiming to protect the health of the population.


The Secretary of Health of the State of Mexico has launched a series of workshops aimed at municipal authorities in the Toluca region and southern part of the State, with the purpose of providing training on key topics to ensure well-being and comply with regulations on health regulation.

As part of this training, the first workshop focused on providing technical guidance and addressing the corresponding regulations for the municipal authorities. Fundamental topics such as food handling, organization of tianguis, markets, slaughterhouses, cemeteries, solid waste management, and the regulation of licenses and permits for establishments were discussed.

Participating municipalities include Almoloya de Alquisiras, Coatepec Harinas, Ixtapan de la Sal, Malinalco, Ocuilan, Sultepec, Tenancingo, Texcaltitlán, Tonatico, Villa Guerrero, as well as others. Gerardo Valdés Martínez, Coordinator of Health Regulation of the Institute of Health of the State of Mexico (ISEM), emphasized the importance of collaboration with municipalities to ensure compliance with current regulations and promote good practices.

"The main mission is to protect the health of those who use and consume goods and services," Valdés stated. Additionally, the aim is to promote the exchange of information among municipalities to develop strategies for disease prevention, health promotion, and timely response to emergencies, ensuring effective action in the face of any eventuality.

Macarena Montoya Olvera, State Secretary of Health, highlighted that these actions arose from a meeting with mayors who began their administrations on January first, within the framework of the State Development Plan 2023-2029. The objective is to meet the goals of Social Well-being, Halting Corruption, and Sustainable Water Development, to positively impact the quality of life of the inhabitants of the State of Mexico.
