The Ecologist Green Party of Mexico (PVEM), led by "Pepe" Couttolenc, is promoting the use of a new material made from single-use plastics in the State of Mexico. This material has a durability of 10 years, superior to that of traditional asphalt, and has proven successful in Toluca and Naucalpan de Juárez.
This project, coordinated by José Alberto Couttolenc Buentello, is based on a blend of plastics with easy-to-apply additives at a reduced cost, contributing to a decrease in the carbon footprint. Accompanied by federal and local deputies from the Green Party, Couttolenc reported that more than 500 potholes have already been repaired thanks to donations from businessmen, and they plan to extend this initiative to the 125 municipalities of the State.
In Mexico, there are more than 64 million potholes, of which over three million are located in the State of Mexico. These potholes cause around five thousand accidents annually at the national level, with 600 of them occurring in the State of Mexico. Couttolenc emphasized the importance of properly managing waste to generate alternatives like this that benefit millions of residents.
