On Saturday night, Michoacán Prosecutor Carlos Torres Piña provided information on the investigation into the murder of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo Rodríguez. The prosecutor explained that the incident occurred after a public event concluded around 20:10, and the mayor died at Fray Juan de San Miguel Hospital at 20:50. He detailed that one of the attackers was killed at the scene, and a "9mm short weapon and seven spent casings" were secured. Upon searching the attacker's belongings, he stated that "no identification was found, so we will be working in the coming hours to identify the attacker." The prosecutor also reported that a council member, Víctor Hugo de la Cruz Saucedo, was injured at the scene and "is out of danger." Within the framework of the investigation, two people who likely participated in the events were detained. Regarding coordination between authorities, Torres Piña indicated that personnel from the Homicide Prosecutor's Office, the forensic area, and agents from the institution traveled to Uruapan to continue the investigation with the aim of clarifying the case as soon as possible. "We will be informing you in the coming hours of any additional data we may have to inform the public," he concluded.
