The Attorney General of Michoacán has executed an arrest warrant for seven public servants from the municipality of Uruapan. They are suspected of their probable participation in the qualified crime of homicide by commission through omission, against Municipal President Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez. This adds to the arrests announced this week by the federal Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch, who confirmed the arrest of the mastermind of the crime: Jorge Armando N., alias "El Lic". With Friday's arrests, it appears that way. According to information from the Attorney General of Michoacán, this Friday, "seven public servants from the municipality of Uruapan were arrested for their probable participation in the crime of qualified homicide, by commission through omission, against Municipal President Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez". In this way, the authorities seek to accelerate the investigation of a crime that shook the country and generated a national crisis. Suspicion regarding the custody of the deceased mayor existed from the very beginning for two main reasons. The first, for the ease with which Víctor Manuel - the 17-year-old who carried out the shots - approached the mayor and executed him in the middle of the Day of the Dead celebration. How was it possible that one of the most protected authorities in the country was assassinated in such a way? The second fact that fueled suspicions was confirmed a few days after the assassination, when the Attorney General's Office managed to confirm that Víctor Manuel was killed by the mayor's own security detail once he was under arrest and custody. Were the mayor's agents trying to hide information and hinder the investigation? This Friday, the Michoacán Prosecutor's Office reported that it had arrested seven members of the mayor's security detail, accused of participating in the case classified as "qualified homicide". The question was obvious: Why did they kill the person responsible for the crime once he was handcuffed? According to details, he was the leader of the criminal cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) that planned the murder of the former mayor of Uruapan.
