The legal conflict between BeScience Mexico and Bayer has had economic and reputational consequences for the former, according to the Mexican company. Despite the ruling in favor of BeScience by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), Bayer has sent a clarification indicating that they have attempted to modify their portal to resolve the situation, without a positive response to date from BeScience.
For its part, BeScience has assured that Bayer has tried to change its portal and has filed amparo lawsuits since 2019, without success so far. A fine of 5,000 UMAs (approximately 500,000 pesos) has been imposed on Bayer, which it has not yet complied with. IMPI ruled in favor of BeScience in a case of improper use of the registered trademark.
In an attempt at dialogue, Bayer has expressed its willingness to resolve the conflict with BeScience to protect the intellectual property rights of both parties in the markets where they operate. However, BeScience's response to this proposal has not yet materialized.
Meanwhile, the Investment Promotion Forum in the South-Southeast of Mexico will soon take place on February 18 at the World Trade Center in Veracruz, organized by the Council of the Americas (COA) in collaboration with the government of Veracruz and TC Energía. This event will bring together state leaders and public and private sector representatives to discuss the industrial and commercial landscape of the southeast, government priorities for attracting investments, and strategic sectors for the economic development of the region.
The COA, based in New York, has a distinguished track record in promoting development in Mexico and Latin America, serving as a bridge between multinational companies and governments to foster dialogue and economic integration. The forum aims to strengthen the regional economy and promote collaboration between public and private actors in the south-southeast of the country, with prominent figures such as the governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle García, and representatives of the business and industrial sector.
