Members of the Solecito Collective of Veracruz took over the State Congress demanding the resignation of the State Attorney General, Verónica Hernández Giadáns, whom they accuse of lack of results. During the Attorney General's appearance, members of the Collective blocked the entrances and exits of the building to pressure the congressmen to remove Hernández Giadáns from her position.
"We request that the attorney be removed from office, we cannot afford to have an official who is not doing an adequate job in the search for the missing, her management has been a failure," said Lucía de los Ángeles Díaz Genao. The activist expressed her disappointment at the lack of urgency from both the government of Rocío Nahle and the new congress in addressing this issue.
In Veracruz, the State Attorney General is appointed by the Congress for a term of 9 years, and in the current case, Verónica Hernández Giadáns's term will end in 2029. Members of the collective claim that under the attorney's management, cases of the missing remain in impunity and denounce her lack of empathy and sensitivity in the work she performs.
Lucía de los Ángeles Díaz Genao emphasized the absence of progress in terms of justice and criticized the attorney's management in the identification of human remains, pointing to a concerning forensic backlog in Veracruz. The Solecito Collective of Veracruz demands greater attention to justice and investigation to solve cases of the missing in the region.
