Families Demand Removal of Veracruz Prosecutor

Families of the disappeared in Veracruz have requested the removal of Verónica Hernández, the state attorney. They argue that the official has not performed adequately in the search for missing persons and were expecting her dismissal by the new government led by Rocío Nahle.

Lucía de los Ángeles Díaz Genao, a member of this demand, pointed out that in addition to the lack of justice, there is a significant forensic backlog in Veracruz, with thousands of unidentified human remains and problems in common graves due to the lack of identification of the remains found.

In the specific case of Oswaldo Ramírez, a 26-year-old young man with a tattoo on his left arm and vitiligo on his face, his whereabouts remain unknown. Additionally, on January 21, families from the Solecito Collective of Veracruz protested at the state Congress demanding the dismissal of the Attorney General Verónica Hernández Giadáns, accusing her of not providing results.

During the demonstration, the Veracruz Attorney's Office was accused of not providing information about the location of Oswaldo and Jhosajani, two young people who have been missing since January 19. Both traveled from Xalapa to Veracruz to deliver cancer medications and disappeared after stopping at a restaurant.

The last known location of Oswaldo's cell phone was at the facilities of the State Auxiliary Police (IPAX) in Veracruz. Despite filing an official complaint, families have not received sufficient information from the Attorney General's Office of Veracruz.

As for Jhosajani de Rubí Luna Martínez, an 18-year-old young woman with a nose piercing and tattoos on her arms and legs, her whereabouts are also unknown. Families continue to demand answers and the whereabouts of both missing young people.
