The ruling alliance between Morena, the Green Party, and the PT is facing tensions ahead of the municipal elections in Veracruz. This Wednesday, Morena and the Green Party presented their coalition for the June elections, while seeking to reach an agreement with the PT to complete the electoral triad. However, negotiations between Morena and the PT regarding the distribution of joint candidacies have not yielded favorable results so far.
According to close sources, the PT led the ballots in 33 municipalities three years ago, but this year would only receive that responsibility in 22 cities, a fact that has not been accepted by the national leadership of this party. The local president of Morena, Esteban RamÃrez, mentioned that the distribution of candidacies is based on the previous electoral results of each party and is confident that, despite the tensions, an agreement will be reached.
Edgar Herrera Lendechy, national delegate of the Green Party in Veracruz, expressed satisfaction with the coalition agreement between his party and Morena, but admitted that they have not yet managed to close a pact with the PT. Carolina Rangel, general secretary of Morena, emphasized the importance of the participation of all actors in the June elections and stated that negotiations with the PT will continue to reach a definitive agreement.
The PT issued a statement indicating that dialogue between the leaderships is ongoing, despite not being represented at the event on Wednesday. Problems arose between Morena and the PT due to the distribution of candidacies proposed by Morena, which the PT believes contravenes its own structure.
"All comrades are valuable," expressed the general secretary of Morena, Carolina Rangel, during Wednesday's event, which was attended by the main figures of the Green Party, although there was no presence of PT representatives.
