The governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle García, requested the denial of Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez's affiliation to Morena after he presented himself to join the political party. Nahle stated that Yunes Márquez does not meet the necessary requirements and does not represent the principles of the National Regeneration Movement, requesting respect for the Veracruz party members.
"I ask the commission of honesty and justice of Morena not to credit Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez as a member of Morena, for not representing or having the principles of the regeneration movement," declared the governor of Veracruz. Additionally, Nahle indicated she would deliver to the national leadership of the political party evidence against the Yunes family, which is part of what is known as the "blue folder."
On Tuesday, February 18, Yunes Márquez attended the Morena membership day alongside other senators from the party. The Morena caucus confirmed Yunes Márquez's membership and indicated that he decided to join the party to avoid being expelled from the PAN, where he faces an expulsion process.
Yunes Márquez was appointed President of the Finance and Public Credit Commission of the Senate of the Republic, despite his expulsion process from the PAN. The senator affirmed that his decision to join Morena responds to his personal conviction to contribute to the country's progress and that he has been working with the Morena caucus for several months.
Regarding the possible affiliation of his father, former governor Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, to Morena, Yunes Márquez mentioned that his father is retired from politics and that any decision in this regard will depend on him.
