Ricardo Monreal Comments on Yunes Márquez's Morena Affiliation

The president of the Political Coordination Board of the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, decided not to comment on the affiliation of former PAN member Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez to Morena. "I won't interfere," he added, acknowledging that throughout his political life he has been a member of four parties: PRI, PRD, PT, and Convergencia, in addition to Morena. Monreal indicated that he would not disqualify anyone for this reason, as he would not have the authority to do so.

On February 15, Yunes Márquez's incorporation to Morena was announced, which sparked a protest from the governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle García. She requested the party's commission of honesty and justice not to certify Yunes Márquez's membership in Morena.

In response to Rocío Nahle's stance, Monreal expressed: "I respect her; she is a good governor; yesterday I sent her a solidarity greeting because she has her reasons, and I respect that, but the decision is up to the party; I won't interfere, I don't want to assume conduct or positions that do not correspond to me."

Legislator Monreal Ávila, a co-founder of Morena, stated that he would like to end his political career as a member of this party. Amid the controversy over Yunes Márquez's affiliation with Morena, Monreal made it clear that the decision was made by the party, and he would not make any comments on the matter.
