Claudia Medina Tamariz was illegally detained in the early morning of August 7, 2012, along with her husband, Isaías Flores Pineda. They were taken to the Naval Base of Veracruz where Claudia suffered physical and sexual violence. Under threats and torture, she was forced to incriminate her husband and accept false charges, enduring electric shocks and mistreatment for 36 hours.

After an interrogation, she was publicly presented to the press as a criminal, along with her husband and other individuals, showing supposed planted evidence, such as drugs and weapons. Despite wanting to report the torture suffered, the fear for her children's safety kept her silent.

Later, she was released on bail and decided to report the abuses suffered, seeking support from the National Human Rights Commission and the Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Center. The Navy Secretariat publicly apologized for the events, acknowledging the violations of Claudia's rights and reaffirming its commitment to cooperate with justice.

Claudia Medina Tamariz, who was engaged in the sale of natural products, has expressed her desire to clear her name, denying any information linking her to criminal activities. The Navy Secretariat committed to repairing the damage caused and restoring her dignity as a victim of an unjust process.

Claudia's nightmare began with a violent arrest at her home, where she was subjected to abuse, torture, and false accusations. Her courage in reporting these facts seeks to restore her reputation and prove her innocence.
