It was not until almost a full century later that President Claudia Sheinbaum decreed March 15th as the "Naval Aviation Day". The commemorative date was established in the Official Journal of the Federation on March 13th of this year. The head of the Mexican Navy Secretariat, Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, announced the acquisition of 36 aircraft to reinforce the air force of the department. The Admiral made the announcement on Sunday, March 15th, during the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation, a ceremony held in Veracruz, a state considered the home of the Navy, as it houses the Naval Air Base and the Naval Aviation School. Currently, the Naval Air Force of the Navy consists of 69 aircraft and 46 helicopters deployed in 10 naval air bases and 22 squadrons throughout the country. During the commemoration, the Navy displayed its aircraft, including the giant CN-235 aircraft with a wingspan of 25.82 meters used for patrolling and surveillance of strategic facilities, as well as maritime and land interception. The Naval Air Force operates at sea and in the air with aircraft used for surveillance, reconnaissance, search and rescue, transport, close air support, and interception. On March 15, 1926, the Organic Law of the Army and National Navy established for the first time the Corps of Seaplanes, led by Commodore Carlos Castillo Bretón, a pioneer of Mexican naval aviation.
