A warning for low pressure in a Pemex pipeline led to an intelligence operation that managed to discover an illegal hydrocarbon tap in the vicinity of the Xonotli Agricultural Technology Park, an agricultural area located on the borders of Salamanca, Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, and Villagrán.
The seizure was carried out as a result of the work of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force (CONFIA) in collaboration with the Secretariat of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), and the Physical Security area of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
The operation in the rural area included the mobilization of mixed security cells that inspected around 900 hectares in the towns of Godoy, San Isidro, and El Socorro, identifying the exact point of illegal extraction in the community of Mexicanos, in the municipality of Villagrán.
At the site, a three-axle truck with a 20,000-liter tank, 13 buried cistern tanks with a capacity of 1,100 liters each, a Honda light generator, and 52,000 liters of stolen hydrocarbon were found.
Authorities reported that the area and the seized objects were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to continue with the pertinent investigations and determine the corresponding responsibilities.
The Secretariat of Security and Peace of Guanajuato called on citizens to report any illicit activity related to these types of crimes and reminded that the anonymous reporting number 089 is available to report illegal taps or the illegal sale of hydrocarbons.
