
The Government of the State of Zacatecas confirmed that 19 people died in a tragic crash between a passenger bus and a tractor-trailer on federal highway 45 Aguascalientes - Zacatecas, at kilometer 74, near the Osiris toll booth. Initially, it was reported that 24 people had died and five were injured, but later the number was updated to 19 confirmed victims.
"After the rescue and forensic work at the scene, the confirmed number is unfortunately 19 people. The list will be published gradually as the Prosecutor's Office can identify them," declared the Secretary General of the state government, Rodrigo Reyes Muguerza. The bus from the Ómnibus company, with economic number 5953, was transporting 25 people from Tepic to Ciudad Juárez.
Six people were injured in the accident and are receiving care at a hospital in the capital of Zacatecas, with health conditions ranging from reserved to severe. The injured individuals were identified as Carlos Eduardo Pérez Delagado, Enrique Paredes Ruiz, Gustavo Adolfo Maciel, Esaú Natanel Piña Casas, Alondra Rodríguez Mariscal, and Guillermo Padilla Ávila.
The Government of Zacatecas set up two phone numbers to provide assistance and information about the accident. For information about the preliminary list of deceased individuals, one can call 492 131 3055, and to learn about the condition of hospitalized individuals, the number 492 136 5463 is available. Efforts are being coordinated with the governments of Nayarit and Jalisco to contact the families of the injured and deceased, assured Reyes Muguerza.
