Zaira “A”, former queen of the Apple Fair in Zacatlán in the year 2000, was arrested on the morning of Tuesday, March 31, by ministerial police from the Prosecutor's Office of the State of Puebla. The arrest was made in compliance with an apprehension order issued by a control judge attached to the Judicial Power of Puebla following a complaint filed against the former beauty queen for her alleged complicity in a real estate fraud scheme. According to the record issued by the National Registry of Detentions, the apprehension of Zaira “A” occurred on the Interserrana highway, at the height of the Altica neighborhood, in the municipality of Zacatlán. The former beauty queen was traveling in a gray van with her family on board when she was intercepted by agents from the Puebla Prosecutor's Office, without offering any resistance to the arrest. The detention occurred at 11:15 AM on March 31 and subsequently, she was admitted to the Women's Penitentiary Center of Ciudad Serdán, Puebla, to be at the disposal of the judge who issued the apprehension order against her. To date, the Puebla Prosecutor's Office has not revealed more details of the case nor has it indicated the time for the initial hearing, which had to take place no later than April 1. Zaira “A” was crowned beauty queen at the Zacatlán Apple Fair in the year 2000 and subsequently dedicated herself to various businesses, in addition to supporting local political campaigns.
