Inhabitants of the Ejido Zapopan, in the northern part of the municipality of the same name, are demanding compensation that was supposed to be deposited to a deceased person by the Zapopan City Hall. This is related to a two-hectare piece of land located at the entrance to the canyons, valued at 145 million pesos. According to the explanation provided by the lawyer of the ejidatarios, María de los Ángeles Bermúdez, municipal officials who hold repeated positions would supposedly be involved in this alleged fraud.
"These two hectares were evaluated, regarding which the amount of 145 million pesos was mentioned, and the check issued on December 27, 2023, for the payment of the land to the ejidatarios, was made out to Héctor Orozco González, who was the treasurer of the Ejido of Zapopan at that time; however, there is a problem here that the check was issued two years after he passed away," stated the lawyer.
Nicolás Arévalo, one of the ejidatarios, is unaware of the whereabouts of that money and requests the City Hall to clarify the situation: "At the time he passed away, the account was joint; we do not know why or how they did it so that this former colleague was given the money; I do not know under what argument, both the city hall and the person who advised us at that time."
In response, the Government of Zapopan has communicated that they have not received any notification from the corresponding judicial authority. They affirm that they will respond with the necessary legal means to demonstrate the legality of the administrative procedures in question.
