Significant Investment Announced in Nuevo León

The British company Unilever announced an investment of 8,000 million pesos to launch a new plant in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, adding to beauty projects. The generation of 1,200 direct jobs is expected with the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainability innovation. The company's Supply Chain and Operations Director emphasized confidence in Mexico as one of its main markets.

These investments are part of the Mexico Plan, aimed at addressing the uncertainty generated by U.S. trade policy. The company's president stated that Mexico is in a favorable situation due to investment commitments and the arrival of companies interested in producing in the country, though she highlighted the importance of maintaining trade agreements.

The news comes after it was confirmed that Mexican auto parts will have a 0% tariff, in contrast to the measures applied by the Trump administration in the automotive sector. Willem Uijen, Director of Supply Chain and Operations, described the investment as one of the most significant in the company's history in Mexico.

At another ceremony, Unilever also announced an investment of 30,000 million pesos in various projects in Mexico by 2028. Increased production capacity, implementation of new manufacturing lines, logistics projects, digitization, and brand strengthening are anticipated. Mexico City’s government head, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed optimism about the country's growth, navigating the recession with a 0.2% growth in the last quarter.
