The Tax Administration Service (SAT) doesn't want to make you wait until 2026 and calculates that automatic tax refunds for the 2025 annual declaration will be made, on average, in 4.5 days. "I dare to say that the average will be 4.5 days for declarations whose pre-loaded information in the SAT has not undergone any change," said Gari Flores Hernández, SAT's central collection administrator, at a press conference. The official specified that for the 2025 declaration, it is expected that 11 million 400 thousand taxpayers will file their declaration, and it is anticipated that most will do so during the first days of April, contrary to what happens with companies, which usually file their annual declaration in the last days of March. SAT debunks 'urban legend' about annual declaration refund.
Gari Flores Hernández also took the opportunity to clarify that it is false that the sooner the 2025 annual declaration is filed, the faster the tax refund will be received. "Individuals have the entire month to meet their obligations," he stressed. Moisés García, SAT's decentralized taxpayer services administrator, explained that to deposit a tax refund, an electronic signature is mandatory for amounts over 10,000 pesos, and if the amount is less, it can be done with a password. The officials emphasized that there are favorable balances that are processed very quickly when the information is already pre-loaded, but if the taxpayer makes any modification, it will go to a subsequent validation.
Ana Laura Delgadillo, SAT's central administrator of Declarations and Payments, stated that with 5 business days left to conclude the deadline for filing corporate declarations, 363,000 companies had already filed their returns, representing a 14% increase compared to the immediate previous period. SAT highlighted that as of March 23, tax collection amounted to 1 trillion 395 billion pesos, a real increase of 2.7%. This tax collection was almost 60 billion pesos more compared to last year, when 1 trillion 124 billion pesos were received. Compliance from January to March 23 represents 104% of the goal established in the Official Gazette.
