New Roadway to Improve Connectivity in South Guadalajara

To strengthen connectivity in the south of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG), the governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, presented the new Chulavista–El Cuervo interconnection roadway in the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga. According to authorities, this project aims to reduce travel times and improve access to services and public transport in one of the areas with the highest population growth.

Strategic Connectivity for South AMG The roadway, approximately two kilometers long, connects various neighborhoods such as Chulavista, Lomas del Mirador, Santa Fe, and the El Cuervo area. It will also provide a direct link to Line 4 of the public transport system, representing an alternative for thousands of users who daily travel to different points in the city.

“We will connect neighborhoods like Chulavista, the Chiva neighborhood, Lomas del Mirador, Santa Fe with the El Cuervo area and with Line 4 of the public transport; so, this is a fantastic piece of work,” stated the state governor.

El Cuervo Avenue is a historic project for Tlajomulco, as it connects with Line 4 and neighborhoods like Chulavista, Santa Fe, and Lomas del Mirador. This road was built with hydraulic concrete and includes lighting, a bike lane, landscaping, and sidewalks.

Comprehensive and Modern Infrastructure The project features four lanes of hydraulic concrete and includes complementary infrastructure such as storm drains, drainage, sanitary installations, sidewalks, lighting, a bike lane, a central median, horizontal and vertical signage, and a 20.5-meter vehicular bridge.

With an investment of 189.5 million pesos (mdp), the project was executed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), headed by David Zamora Bueno. The project is also part of a package of strategic works for Tlajomulco, which includes the future Line 5 of the public transport system, the expansion of El Zapote Avenue, and a new entrance to the Guadalajara International Airport.

The roadway also includes infrastructure ready for services such as potable water and drainage as urban development in the area progresses.

Impact on Mobility and Urban Development In addition to improving connectivity, this roadway will facilitate access to key points such as the IMSS Clinic 180 and important roads like Adolf B. Horn, the Carretera a San Sebastián el Grande, and the road to Unión del Cuatro.

In turn, the municipal president, Gerardo Quirino Velázquez Chávez, highlighted that the work will allow residents to travel more efficiently, both by vehicle and by bicycle, to Line 4 of the public transport system.

“We must create conditions for people, by vehicle or even by bicycle, to be able to reach and use Line 4,” stated Velázquez Chávez.

The Valle area continues to connect with the city.
