School in Villahermosa Implements Safety Protocols

At the Technical Secondary School Number 28 in Villahermosa, Tabasco, emergency drills are being conducted due to recent threats that have jeopardized the safety of students. Located in the Gaviotas Norte neighborhood, considered one of the most dangerous areas of the Tabasco capital, the institution has decided to prepare for any violent eventuality that may occur both inside and outside its facilities.

The school's principal, Alejandra Gutiérrez Juárez, has explained the importance of having young people prepared to react appropriately in high-risk situations, such as a shooting, for which a special protocol has been established. Each staff member has a specific function assigned in the event of an attack: activation of alarms, notification to parents, and communication with security authorities.

Teachers have been made aware of the relevance of this protocol, while students have been given the opportunity to express their proposals and emotions on how to act in case of an emergency. Additionally, parents have been informed in advance to avoid confusion or generate unnecessary alarms during the drills.

The situation at Technical Secondary School Number 28 worsened on February 10 when outsiders to the institution placed a threatening poster demanding the removal of security cameras under threat of reprisals. The climate of insecurity is exacerbated by Villahermosa's inclusion in the ranking of the 50 most violent cities in the world.

In light of these challenges, Director Gutiérrez Juárez has emphasized the importance of equipping young people with the necessary tools to protect themselves in crisis situations. The organization Mexicanos Primero has warned about the closure of schools and the interruption of classes in various municipalities of seven Mexican states due to the violence and insecurity that persist in the country.
