Race for Peace at University City

On April 26, the Race for Peace at University City aims to raise funds for scholarships and celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the UNAM Foundation, promoting sports and higher education.

The UNAM Foundation will celebrate its 32nd anniversary with the Race for Peace, an event aimed at raising funds for scholarships, awards, and economic incentives for the institution's students. The race will take place on April 26 at Ciudad Universitaria and coincides with the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

In a press conference, the Secretary of Service and Attention to the University Community, Fernando Macedo Chagolla, highlighted the importance of sports in well-being and the development of values among students. "We invite the university community to join the race; we are all friends of UNAM and can collaborate in this crusade for higher education," he added.

The eight-kilometer race will begin at 5:00 PM at the Olympic University Stadium and will cover the student and sports circuits of CU. Subsequently, participants will return to the Stadium to finish the race. During the event, winners will be awarded and a civic culture of peace will be promoted.

Dionisio Meade and García de León, president of FUNAM, along with Daniel Aceves Villagrán, director of the Alfredo Harp Helú Foundation for Sport, announced the details of the race and the collaboration between the foundations to promote sports activities. There will be categories for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as for open and veteran participants, with competitions in various artistic disciplines.

Registration for the race will open on March 4 through the Emoción Deportiva website and in Martí Stores. The registration fee is 300 pesos, which will go towards the runners' kits and the foundation's scholarship programs. The top three places in each category will be awarded in their respective female and male divisions.
