The Mexican singer and songwriter Joy Huerta, 38 years old, along with her brother Jesse Huerta, forms the renowned musical duo "Jesse & Joy". Joy made her debut as a composer in the musical "Real Women Have Curves", becoming the first Mexican woman to write songs for a Broadway musical in collaboration with Benjamín Vélez.

In an interview for Broadway.com, Joy expressed her excitement and honor for this achievement: "Oh my God, it’s incredible to say it out loud. This is my Broadway debut, I still can’t believe it, I’m so excited and honored". For her, participating in this powerful story with themes of sisterhood is an unexpected and special dream.

The musical, which premiered on April 27 at the James Earl Jones Theater in New York, stars fellow Mexican Florencia Cuenca, who grew up in the artistic field alongside her father, the late actor and comedian Enrique Cuenca, known as "Polivoz". The play is based on the 2002 film of the same name written by Josefina López and starring América Ferrera, portraying the life of a Mexican immigrant family in Los Angeles in the 1980s.
