The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, acknowledged that the General Hospital is experiencing saturation in its health services, and therefore he is already analyzing options to increase its operational capacity. The state leader admitted that his 130 beds are sometimes insufficient to treat the population due to the entity's growth, so he proposed the possibility of an investment to increase the number of spaces for patient care. 'Indeed, at times it becomes complicated for us due to the lack of beds we need to help those who arrive, but we are continuing to work on it,' he said. Regarding the alleged shortage of medical personnel due to massive resignations, he assured that the hospital has a permanent hiring call to cover vacancies. Additionally, he stated that his government is in talks with the federal government to open more positions at the facility. 'We have not opened a call at the federal level either, and that has not allowed us to open more positions. But we are hiring with temporary contracts, we are hiring permanently,' he explained. The state governor asserted that his government maintains close coordination with the federal government despite not being part of the IMSS Bienestar program, and added that he is willing to support the consolidation of the Universal Health System, proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum last Tuesday. The governor's statements come after personnel from the General Hospital reported to the media about poor working conditions, lack of supplies, and an overload of work that supposedly caused several workers to resign. 'We are looking into a possible investment, this year is a year with a lot of financial pressure, and we are seeing what can be done,' he said. Although the Ministry of Health had suggested using the old General Hospital of Paseo 5 de Febrero for a new project to expand services, Kuri González ruled out this option, stating that the building would require a considerable investment.
