On World No Tobacco Day, by order of the mayor of Benito Juárez, Luis Mendoza, the Comprehensive Addiction Care Center (CAIA), in coordination with the Institute for the Care and Prevention of Addictions (IAPA), held the talk 'Nicotine Consumption: A Look from Public Health and Community Prevention in Youth' at the Mixcoac Social Development Center.
The event aimed to raise awareness among young people about the risks associated with nicotine consumption in its various forms, as well as to promote healthy environments and prevention strategies from the community.
The mayor has reiterated his administration's commitment to promoting public policies aimed at preventing addictions and the comprehensive well-being of young people in the demarcation.
'In Benito Juárez, we work every day to care for our youth. Preventing nicotine consumption is protecting their health, their development, and their future; that is why we promote informational and community actions that generate awareness and responsible decisions,' he highlighted.
The talk was given by Dr. Inti Barrientos, who clearly and accessibly explained the implications of consuming this substance for public health, highlighting its impact on physical and mental health, as well as the importance of strengthening preventive actions from an early age.
During the event, attendees actively participated, resolving doubts and reflecting on the influence of new forms of consumption, such as electronic devices.
With these actions, the Benito Juárez mayor's office reaffirms its commitment to public health and addiction prevention, promoting spaces for information, reflection, and support that strengthen the comprehensive well-being of youth and promote healthier and more conscious communities.
